THOMAS HALL WELCOME/WAYFINDING SIGNAGE
Overlooking the streetcar line on St. Charles Avenue, Thomas Hall is one of the most prominent buildings on Loyola's campus and the first stop for prospective students and their parents when visiting Loyola for the first time, It began life as a residence hall for Loyola's Jesuit priests, but is now one of the university's main administrative buildings and houses some of the busiest departments including Financial Aid, Student Records, and the Office of Admissions. After undergoing renovations in 2011, the new space was clean and attractive but formal and cold.
To help give a warmer welcome to visiting families, the Admissions staff asked us to do something to bring friendliness and life to the ground floor while also helping visitors to navigate the building — a challenge made tricker because the building's historical status meant we were prohibited from painting or otherwise permanently altering the building.
And so our solution was stickers. Very big stickers.
